Employed as Women’s Designer for Wovens, Outerwear, and Casual Bottoms. 10/2008 - 9/2020
Outerwear is my absolute favorite category of apparel to design. I love the technical nature and the necessity for practical and functional design that meets great aesthetic. I have experience designing both dress and performance outerwear for Womenswear. I have fabric sourcing knowledge, poly and down fill expertise, and construction understanding. I love finding new ways to enhance outerwear and combine practical design with form and function.
I have been designing woven shirts and dresses for the majority of my career with a strong emphasis on Women’s contemporary product. I have a wide range of knowledge of fabric sourcing from cottons, tencel and synthetics, flannels, wool blends, and poly and silk.
I am very hands-on with woven pattern design, creating yarn-dyes and prints, clips and embroideries, and novelty trims. I am familiar with all types of embellishments and construction techniques in woven design and very active in the technical and fit process.
My aesthetic can best be described as feminine with a twist on classic. I like pushing for unique designs that are on trend and wearable.
Casual Bottoms requires a specific skill-set of knowledge to properly execute design visions. Knowledge of different washing methods and sanding techniques to properly achieve handfeel and color is necessary for optimal results. Factory capabilities also play an integral role in the execution of bottoms and proper stitching and dyeing methods are equally important as construction and fit knowledge. I have experience designing Women’s denim bottoms and skirts in addition to cotton stretch twills, sateens, and synthetic blends. I have completed denim related courses with Cotton Inc, and am fully equipped to handle all casual bottom garments.
Concepts, sketches and designs featured here are my own. I enjoy mixing hand sketching with modern Photoshop methods for rendering.
I have created small collections here that are inspired by landscape, travel, art, and lifestyle influences.
I began my fashion career as a Print and CAD artist. This experience has enabled a strong sense for color and pattern. I am fully equipped with all the necessary technical skills involved for print and come highly adept at all Adobe applications as well as ColorMatters and NedGraphic software. I have experience designing embroideries, embellishments, screen-prints, graphics, and trims. I can also source prints through vintage and print mill contacts.
